Chronic Illness Therapy

Living with chronic illness can be exhausting. Medical appointments, new treatments, tests, and medication are a full-time job in and of themselves. It's no wonder you may be frustrated, burnt out, or struggling to spend time on anything other than managing your health.

Not to mention the grief that can come with a new diagnosis or progression of symptoms. There's a lot of uncertainty that can make it difficult for you to process your feelings and live your life the way you want (even if that needs a few more accommodations).

At Good Thanks Therapy we get it. Stacey approaches chronic illness therapy from a place of lived experience. She understands the gaslighting and trauma that occur in the medical system and wants to make sure you have a space where you feel safe, validated, and understood in your experience. She uses evidence-based techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you understand your limits, expand your coping strategies, and go back to living a more valued life full of the things you want to be doing (not just the things you have to do).

Therapy can support you in your experience of a wide range of chronic illnesses and disabilities, but some common ones we see are:

  • IBS, IBD, and GI concerns

  • Functional Neurological Disorders (FND)

  • POTS & Dysautonomia

  • EDS/Hypermobility

  • MS

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Autoimmune issues

  • Endometriosis & PCOS
