Identity Therapy

We've all asked ourselves the question, "Who Am I?" Sometimes it's easier to answer than others. In today's fast-paced world, we often don't stop long enough to really get to know ourselves until a major life transition happens. We often question our identity in the face of:

  • Divorce

  • Breakups (partners, friends, etc)

  • Moving

  • Job loss or job transition

  • Retirement

  • Starting or finishing university

  • Illness

  • Birth of a child

  • Marriage

Identity therapy and identity exploration can support you in your journey to figure out who you are and what you want your life to look like. This can look like:

  • Exploring the parts of you that you still feel connected to (from childhood, teen years, etc)

  • Exploring new hobbies

  • Identifying values

  • Identity maps

  • Journaling

  • Exploring and processing life transitions or recent/past traumas


Identity work can be some of the hardest and also the most rewarding and fun work you can do in therapy. Especially when you have the support of a therapist that provides a safe space where you feel comfortable being your authentic self.
